Shout Out to our Bronx Chapter!

To the families who participated in our first out of state Edventure to MIT and to ALL who donated, we thank you and we are grateful for your commitment to (y) our children.

In June 2019 we embarked our first out of state field trip and traveled with 10 Bronx learners to the 1 and only MIT of Cambridge to participate in free robotics programming for the day and it was truly an awesome experience for our youngest learners.

Why MIT?

Everyone who is anyone in the education sector, that understands the odds against our children and is actively doing their part to dismantle them, is worried about the future of education, especially post COVID.

Computers and remote learning seemed to be the obvious solution to schools closing , yet so many children were left out in the cold with no access to technology in the wake of the pandemic and still so many are without daily access today.

Although many people believe genius is like Maybelline, you just have to be born with it, many of us educators know there is a genius in us all.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the latest computer or any computer at all. Although we can not afford to ignore the role tech is playing and will play in the future of economy, history has shown that innovation and invention are the sons and daughters of need and necessity. Too many children are tech illiterate today.

At HTH we believe its all about mindset + exposure multiplied by opportunity to explore ideas and build confidence through the art of making, creating and expressing.

Rinse and Repeat.

The desire to be great comes hand in hand with doing things differently. That doesn’t mean you reinvent the wheel or assume different automatically means better, but that you take the road less traveled, try your hardest, collaborate with others, think outside the box, don’t quit and give it your best shot.

The breakthroughs do come.

So does the reward.

But back to computers, there’s no denying there may be more AI (artificial intelligence) around us than there is actual intelligence and with meme culture absorbing us as it has- REAL DATA AND REAL SCIENCE seems much harder to find.

Through our own research, training and experiences we’ve learned to concentrate on opportunities for our members to have real life interactions in environments and venues that spark imagination, curiosity and critical thinking . Sharing experiences and opportunities that allow us to examine and question what we think we know while engaging in problem solving opportunities are the cornerstones of our mission at HTH. Experiences and opportunities that foster excitement, call for leadership and empower shy, distracted and disinterested learners are what we aim to deliver every time.

Hence why we decided to enlist MIT as one of our first collaborators.

Our Edventures

Since HTHC was founded we’ve focused on organizing field trips with our community attending venues like The World Science Festival in NYC, Minefare, Lego BrickFest, Microsoft Flagship Store, The Seven Magic Mountains, Imagination Playground, The La Brea Tar Pitts, Museum of Natural History, Nevada Railroad Museum, Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden, and many more throughout the country.

Due to the pandemic and now a myriad of other health threats our methods of connecting and gathering have shifted tremendously but the goal for our community to access information pertaining to education at home remains the same.

We’re amplifying our focus to partner with more local non profit organizations on both the east and west coast, along with community advocates, grassroots outreach programs, scholarship programs and fundraising opportunities to help us meet the immediate needs of families since 10s of thousands of families are opting NOT to return to traditional school this Fall.

We have been called to coordinate local and out of state FREE and LOW COST field trips positioning our young participants in alignment with their interests, naturally developed talents, real world network and resources to secure goal oriented opportunities in their future endeavors.

This is the backbone of our mission.

Be Stubborn About Your Goals and Flexible About Your Methods.
