Homeschooling the Hood is a Nationwide Homeschooling Resource Center and Community.
We are comprised of families, friends, community leaders and neighbors nationwide who are homeschool committed as well as homeschool curious.
Through our STREAMtacular initiative, we serve our growing community as a STEM Edventure (Education + Adventure) Resource center focused on People of the Global Majority raising children while working to identify & share:

Our goal is to severely disrupt the “broken” Eurocentric, industrialized and outdated system of education as well as deconstruct the fallacies surrounding intelligence and genius in the Black and Brown community by creating awareness of effective homeschooling/unschooling practice for parents and educators.
Sounds like a lot of work? It is.
We hold space for our community of learners by centering humanity first.
Our Impact
Our online community has been growing exponentially! From LA to Atlanta, Ohio to Colorado and even as far as Costa Rica we have community who have come to HTHC for guidance, reassurance, encouragement and support in making the decision to disenroll from traditional school.
We are so proud to serve a growing online community of real homeschooling families, friends and neighbors all over the nation.

Homeschooling is now more diverse than it has ever been, unfortunately there is not much representation of that diversity in the media or overall homeschool community because we are everywhere. At HSTH we connect families from the diaspora to other People of the Global Majority who are educators, mentors and experienced experts who are working tirelessly to deliver value to our independent education experience. We are also dedicated to working with special needs learners and learners with disabilities.

We understand first hand how to mitigate the unique circumstances and challenges that face our learners dealing with absentee parents, food and housing insecurity, tech insecurity, ENL , Domestic Violence, Foster Care, Police Brutality and Drug and Alcohol Abuse .

In the last 5 years we have physically and virtually held the hand of a sizeable portion of our members while they took the leap of faith to homeschool full time.
We are happy to report not one of our families have chosen to return to traditional methods of education since they signed their Letter of Intent.
Our Non Negotiables
Science tells us that in order to compete in the future job markets there are roughly 7 skills our children need to grow in order to survive the changing world. According to Forbes Magazine, they have not changed much post Covid. Through our initiative we connect our community to resources and real life experiences that will align their natural God given talents, academic strengths ambitions and passions to opportunities for success in their unique career and lifestyle choices. Get Involved
Since Covid 19, HTH has seen a nationwide jump in numbers of families and eductaors who are looking for organizations like ours to shine a light for them in the uncertain and unorganized madness most are experiencing.
While we have been actively spreading awareness, organizing field trips and advocating for family education and homeschooling for years, we have never been this sought after by our community.
Due to the time, energy, research and effort it takes to listen and assist each individual family/situation we are actively accepting volunteers, donations and affiliate partnership collaborations to expand our network and better serve our community.
